“Slinky Williams and her life partner, P’tit Loup (French for Little Wolf), are string players who lay down a funky mix of acoustic blues with a light, breezy feel no matter what the source of their material, which ranges from New Orleans funk to Duke Ellington and modern blues.
They’re veterans of the European music scene, and are based in Germany. Slinky handles most of the vocals while adding mandolin, while she and P’tit Loup double on guitar and percussion. Partners in life as well as on stage, they’ve been making music together since 1972, when they worked in Gurnemanz, a band influenced by the folk music movement in Great Britain.
They produced two subsequent LPs (Spielmannskinder, No Raise Of Noise) before switching gears to play world music and one disc with the band GAIA (All In Green with W. Waglewski). They played rock and jazz during the ‘90s before forming the blues-rock unit, The Xperts. They’ve been working as a duo for the past few years, serving up heaping helpings of old-time blues, swing and jazz while demonstrating prowess on the fretboard. And they recorded Movin’ On at home. A vinyl (plus download options) version is available , too .“ZONE BLEUE” is the title of the new album with both originals and cover songs. More information under “Our Songs”. Bij het beluisteren van Zone Bleue is het relaxte karakter van de songs. Het is dan niet verwonderlijk om twee covers van J.J. Cale tegen te komen, These Blues en River Boat Song. Soms neigen de songs meer naar de jazz en een andere keer meer naar de blues, maar altijd met een ontspannen karakter. Vooral op de late avond zal dit album bij menigeen een gewillig oor vinden.

„Slinky Williams und ihr Lebensgefährte P’tit Loup (französisch für “Kleiner Wolf“) sind ein Saitenspieler Paar, das eine „funky“ akustische Blues-Mischung spielt mit einem leichten, luftigem Feeling, egal aus welcher Quelle ihr Material stammt, das sich von New Orleans Funk bis Duke Ellington und Modern Blues erstreckt.
Sie sind Veteranen der europäischen Musikszene und leben in Deutschland. Slinky übernimmt meistens den Gesang und fügt manchmal Mandoline hinzu, während sie und P’tit Loup beide Gitarre und Percussion spielen. Als Lebens- und Bühnenpartner machen sie seit 1972 zusammen Musik, angefangen haben sie mit der Band Gurnemanz, die von der britischen Folkmusik Bewegung geprägt war.
Mit dieser Band produzierten sie zwei aufeinanderfolgende
LPs ( Spielmannskinder/ No Raise of Noise) bevor sie die Gangart wechselten, um mit GAIA Weltmusik zu spielen (eine LP All In Green mit W. Waglewski). In den 90zigern spielten sie Rock und Jazz bis sie die Blues-Rock Band The X-perts gründeten (bis 2014). Die nächsten Jahre arbeiteten sie als Duo indem sie sich mutig jede Menge old-time Blues, Swing und Jazz für 2 Gitarren erarbeiteten. Und sie nahmen Movin‘ On im eigenen Home Recording Studio auf. “Die LP „Zone Bleue" ist in mehrfacher Hinsicht eine Rarität: mit Akustik-Blues erreicht man anno 2017 keine Massen und besetzt somit ein heute selten anzutreffendes Nischen-Genre. Zudem ist die Vinyl-Ausgabe auf nur 300 Stück limitiert - ein genauer Blick auf diese Rezension könnte sich also lohnen. Denn eine LP wie diese findet man nicht oft - auch das in doppelter Hinsicht! Slinky & P'tit Loup - Zone Bleue (LP, 180g Vinyl) Blues-Freunde sollten sich diese Review genauer zu Gemüte führen und sich nicht davon abschrecken lassen, dass die 180g-LP nur im Eigenvertrieb der Künstler zu bekommen ist - also weder bei den großen Online-Versendern noch in den meisten Plattenläden in Deutschland wird man diese kommende Rarität finden.
